A.J. Brown, a wide receiver with the Eagles, was not shocked when offensive coordinator Brian Johnson was fired after the season came to a poor conclusion.
During an interview with Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press, Brown stated that "somebody has to be the bad guy" whenever a club in the National Football League fails to meet expectations.
According to Brown, the success of the Eagles' offensive unit will ultimately
depend not on the effectiveness of the offensive coordinator but on the players themselves.
Brown stated, "It all comes down to the players, and how well they execute and make plays."
In 2023, Brown had a successful season, starting all 17 games, collecting a career-high 106 catches, accumulating 1,456 receiving yards, and scoring seven touchdowns
He also accomplished all of these things. On the other hand, there were rumors circulating in Philadelphia that he was not on the same page as the coaching staff.
Additionally, if the Eagles had an offense that was better able to capitalize on Brown's abilities, it would go a long way toward making them appear more like the club that they were in 2022 and the first half of 2023, rather than the team that struggled in the latter stretch of the season and was eliminated from the playoffs in a hurry.
